Happy Thanksgiving!
As my family and I sat down to eat our thanksgiving meal this year, my wife and I were explaining to our youngest son the tradition of giving thanks and learning what we are thankful for. I started to reflect on this tradition and what I had learned over the years about giving thanks and appreciating all that we had, including this delicious meal I was going to be sharing with my family. Almost everything we were going to eat had been grown by either ourselves or our neighbouring farmers, and the reminder of the contributions farmers make in our daily lives was literally staring me in the face. We are so fortunate to live in a province such as ours that has the ability to harvest and produce such diverse and delicious crops. Thanksgiving meals would not be possible without our farming community and I was so grateful to be able to share that thanks and gratitude this thanksgiving with my family. – DW
